  • Gigawatts invited to McWane Science Center's Engineering Showcase

    The Gigawatts attended the Engineering Showcase at McWane Science Center on February 21 as part of their Engineering Week! At this event, we connected with several visitors by discussing our team's aspirations and impact across and beyond Alabama and showcasing our robot. We extend our gratitude to the McWane Science Center for allowing us to take part in the event!

  • Three Gigawatts honored with the NCWIT AiC award

    Gigawatts team members Kaleigh Domingo, Yvette Tambunan, and Campbell Cartes have been honored with the high school award for the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing program! We are so proud of them for the hard work they put into achieving this.

    The National Center for Women & Information Technology is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing female participation in computing. The Aspirations in Computing program in particular is a program for young women and non-binary students that provides them with engagement and encouragement in their computing aspirations during high school, throughout college, and in the workforce.

  • Rotary Club visits the Gigawatts

    On January 28, the Fort Payne Rotary Club visited the robotics team! We talked about our team, the impact of STEAM education, and the things we've been able to accomplish as a result of this team. We greatly appreciate their visit, and we hope to continue our relationship with them in the future!

  • Nandini Patel champions in the Congressional App Challenge

    One of our team members, Nandini Patel, has won the Congressional App Challenge for the state of Alabama! Despite the tough competition, she rose to the challenge and showed what it means to be a Wildcat and a Gigawatt! In Nandini's words, "I'm so happy....it has made a great impact on me!"

  • Gigawatts attend the Alabama FRC Kickoff

    The Gigawatts attended the local kickoff for the 2025 FIRST® Robotics Competition season, REEFSCAPESM presented by Haas, on January 4 at the University of Alabama in Huntsville! We had the amazing opportunity to connect with other teams from all throughout the state of Alabama and learn about the objectives for this year's game, which is themed around the building and cleaning of coral reefs.
