•  FPVS offers 3 options for students to complete courses through online settings; FP Virtual School, DualEnrollment Online Courses, and ACCESS State Online Classes. Below is information about each of these options.

     1) Fort Payne Virtual School (FPVS) Online Classes: Open to FPHS student and taught off campus by FPHS teachers

    • Criteria – FPVS enrollment for 9-12th grade student criteria:
      • “Parent FPVS Contract Agreement” signed
      • Recommended – Home Internet and computer is not required, but is recommended. Although students that are full-time at FPHS will be assigned a mobile device (Chromebook) to complete courses, some course work is more feasible to complete on a computer.
      • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
      • Latest acceptable score on one of the following tests:
        • ACT score of 16 or higher
        • Global Scholar score – high average or above (3rd or 4th quartile)
        • Aspire – benchmarked by subject
        • PSAT of 1200 composite
      • Virtual Site on Campus – Although these courses can be completed off campus, a physical location on campus for virtual students to use Wi-Fi and computers when necessary is available.
      • Testing – All FPHS students in any online class must attend the campus for state testing and required proctored exams.
      • Learning Management System – Blackboard through Fort Payne High School
      • NCAA Eligibility – US Government/Economics is NCAA-approved
      • Cost – These classes are at no cost for full-time FPHS students.

       

     2) Dual Enrollment Online Classes:   Open to all students in the region taught by JSU Dual Enrollment teachers 

    • Criteria – Enrollment for any online class through JSU requires the student to be in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
    • Cost – These classes are $150 per credit hour (equates to $450 per semester) and may require a textbook purchase.
    • Recommended – Home Internet and computer is not required, but is recommended. Students that are attending full-time at FPHS will be assigned a mobile device (Chromebook) that can be used to complete coursework, but some coursework may be more feasible to complete on a computer.
    • Virtual Site on Campus – Although these courses can be completed off campus, a physical location on campus for virtual students to use Wi-Fi and computers when necessary is available.
    • Proctored Test – All FPHS students in any online class must attend the campus for state testing and required proctored exams.
    • Learning Management System – Blackboard through JSU
    • Workshops – JSU will offer student and parent workshops at various dates in the summer.

     

    3) ACCESS State Online Classes:   Classes taught by various teachers throughout the state and requires proctored unit exams on campus
