    ALGEBRA I (210005) – two semesters

    Prerequisite:  None

Strongly Recommended:  Students have a graphing calculator for this course.

This course builds on foundational mathematics content learned by students in Grades K-8 by expanding mathematics understanding to provide students with a strong mathematics education. Content is designed to engage students in a variety of mathematical experiences that include the use of reasoning and problem-solving skills, which may be applied to life situations beyond the classroom setting.  This course serves as the cornerstone for all high school mathematics courses; therefore, all subsequent mathematics courses require student mastery of the Algebra I content standards.  1 CREDIT

    ALGEBRA II  – one semester

    Prerequisite: Algebra I and Geometry

Strongly Recommended:  Students have a graphing calculator for this course.

This course includes inequalities, functions, matrices, complex numbers, rational expressions and functions, conics, polynomial functions, radicals, exponents, logarithms, and sequences and series.

This course or Algebra II with Trigonometry is required for a math graduation credit.

This is an ending course for seniors only.  1 CREDIT

ALGEBRA II with TRIGONOMETRY (210016) – one semester (juniors and seniors), two semesters (sophomores)

    Prerequisite:  Algebra I and Geometry

Recommendation:  A minimum yearly B average in Algebra I and Geometry or Honors Geometry.

Strongly Recommended:  Students have a graphing calculator for this course.

This course proceeds more rapidly than the Algebra II course and includes inequalities, functions, matrices, complex numbers, rational expressions and functions, conics, polynomial functions, radicals, exponents, logarithms, and sequences and series. The course culminates in a survey of trigonometry. Right triangles, the unit circle, and graphing the trigonometric functions are studied.

This course is intended for the student with a strong mathematics background who plans to take courses in advanced mathematics or science.   1 CREDIT

HONORS ALGEBRA II with TRIGONOMETRY (210017) – one semester  (juniors and seniors), two semesters (sophomores)

    Prerequisite:  Algebra I and Geometry

Recommendation:  A minimum yearly B average in Algebra I and Geometry or Honors Geometry.

Strongly Recommended:  Students have a graphing calculator for this course.

This course is designed to extend students’ knowledge of Algebra I with additional algebraic and trigonometric content. Mastery of the content standards for this course is necessary for student success in higher-level mathematic. The use of appropriate technology is encouraged for numerical and graphical investigations that enhance analytical comprehension.  1 CREDIT
