FPCS COVID-19 Information
March 16, 2020 Please follow the link above for comprehensive information regarding the statement below Dear Colleagues and Parents, We are experiencing a serious health issue in our country. The public health emergency is growing daily. With this in mind, Fort Payne City Schools will close today at the end of the school day and remain closed until Monday, April 6, 2020. Students will return on April 6, 2020, unless you receive notice of an extension. We have plans designed to allow students to receive breakfast and lunch starting tomorrow at designated locations and times. The chart for meal distribution is listed on the following page along with student resources for educational opportunities. The closure timeframe is Tuesday, March 17, 2020, through Monday, April 6, 2020. All school-sponsored activities scheduled during the statewide school closure are suspended until April 30, 2020. All absences from school today, Monday, March 16, 2020, are excused. Yesterday evening, the CDC released some new guidance reducing the recommended limits on mass gathering from 500 to 50. Our collective commitment to protect the health and safety of our students remains our top priority. I am grateful for the many teachers, administrators, and staff who are exhibiting extraordinary resolve and effort to address student needs. Please open the attachment to see Parental Guides concerning the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Thank you and be safe, Jim Cunningham, Superintendent Fort Payne City Schools
