FPMS Band Program Purpose
The Fort Payne Middle School Band Program is a comprehensive and inclusive music education experience designed to foster a lifelong appreciation for music and develop young musicianship. Open to all junior high students, the program offers separate beginner classes for woodwinds, brass, and percussion, providing students with the foundational skills needed to read music, understand rhythm, and play an instrument with proper technique. For second-year students, the program includes an 8th grade band and a jazz band, where students refine their ensemble skills, explore more advanced repertoire, and develop stylistic expression. The purpose of the Fort Payne Middle School Band Program is to inspire creativity, build confidence, encourage teamwork, and prepare students for continued musical success in high school and beyond.
