Mrs. Jennifer List

My name is Jennifer List, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Wills Valley Elementary School in Fort Payne. Originally from a small rural town in Midwest Ohio, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University and later completed K-12 Special Education certification through Indiana Wesleyan University. In 2009, my husband and I moved to Fort Payne, where we’ve been warmly welcomed and embraced by this close-knit community.

For the past 16 years, I’ve worked with Fort Payne City Schools in a variety of roles. I began as a Special Education teacher at Fort Payne Middle and High Schools, serving students in both general and resource settings. During that time, I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama and later transitioned into school administration. I served as assistant principal at both Williams Avenue Elementary and Fort Payne Middle School before becoming principal of Williams Avenue Elementary in 2019. I then spent four years as principal of Little Ridge Intermediate School, where I led a team of over 80 staff and served more than 775 students.

In July 2025, I stepped into my current role as principal of Wills Valley Elementary. I am deeply committed to supporting our teachers and staff as we provide engaging, high-quality learning experiences that build strong foundational skills for

I have been married to my husband, Kevin List, for 37 years. Together, we have three grown children and are proud grandparents to seven wonderful grandchildren. We’re grateful to live and work in this community and truly enjoy being part of the Fort Payne Wildcat family.
