Mrs. Sally Wheat

My name is Sally Wheat and I am proud to serve the Fort Payne community as the principal of Wills Valley Elementary. I grew up in Mentone and attended Moon Lake Elementary and Valley Head High School.   I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Education and Master of Science Degree in Educational Administration from Jacksonville State University. My first teaching job was in Dalton, GA for one year. The next eight years were spent at Gaylesville High School in Cherokee County. I have been at Wills Valley Elementary for the past fourteen years, first as assistant principal for ten years and the last four as principal. I am dedicated to ensuring that we, the faculty and staff, provide our students with high quality learning experiences that will result in our students being equipped with the skills needed to be successful when they complete 2nd grade and continue their education at Little Ridge Intermediate School. 

I have been married to Shaun Wheat for the past 26 years. We have one daughter, Emily, who is a 2021 graduate of Fort Payne High School. We are proud to live and work in this community and love being part of the Fort Payne Wildcat family.
